Detalles del Evento

Event Description

Recent advances in genomic technologies have made it feasible to study the genetic variations in the human genome using either genotyping arrays or genome sequencing. Tens of thousands of genes have been linked to thousands of human traits and diseases, including height, diabetes, heart disease, cancer, schizophrenia, and intelligence. These findings have raised the hope that we may predict someone's traits based on his/her genetic information, and many companies are marketing products on genetic predictions throughout the world, including China and US. In this talk, we will review the basic principles underlying genetic risk prediction and discuss their practical values.
